Street Net is designed to increase opportunities available to disengaged young people, including Aboriginal and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse youth. It provides early intervention, diversional and recreational activities, and case management for young people who are at risk, through center based and outreach services.
Our focus is on supporting and empowering young people to increase their resilience and wellbeing by assisting them to access positive opportunities which increase their sense of connectedness and belonging to their community.
The service aims to prevent the risks to young people from escalating and utilises strategies to divert young people away from high-risk situations that may impact their safety.
A positive strengths-based approach to service delivery assists young people to build on their skills and abilities and develop resilience to potential risks. Street Net offers intensive support to young people with high needs and challenging behaviours, who may be exposed to multiple risks.
In a collaborative effort, our team works with each young invidividual to craft a comprehensive support plan. This plan encompasses a thorough overview of the young person's challenges and requirements, outlines the objectives they aspire to accomplish, and formulates a set of effective strategies to realize these goals.
Furthermore, Street Net goes beyond support planning, actively facilitating connections between young individuals and the relevant services, their peers, and the community. We also prioritise the enhancement of family relationships, striving to strengthen these crucial bonds.
Our dedicated team actively engages in regular outreach efforts, comprising school visits, participation in youth events, and the provision of a drop-in service at the Billy Dower Youth Centre throughout the school terms.
Street Net offers one-off sessions and structured programs based on the Drumbeat and Rhythm2Recovery programs. Sessions and programs are tailored to meet the needs of participants.
As a RYDE provider, Street Net play a vital role in helping young individuals who encounter obstacles while trying to fulfill their 50 hours of supervised logbook experience. Our approach involves pairing these individuals with a dedicated volunteer mentor and providing access to a program vehicle, allowing them to surmount these challenges and obtain their driver's license.
Street Net is as a dedicated financial advisor, offering invaluable support to families with children and young individuals aged 5-18 who may be facing financial challenges. Our mission is to facilitate access to funding that enables their participation in community sports and recreational activities.
The Building Healthy Relationships Program (BHRP) is a collaborative initiative focusing on community led primary prevention and gender equality programs in schools within the region, emphasising safety, and the cultivation of respectful relationships. As a multidisciplinary project, BHRP consists of three components which are the delivery of programs for secondary school students and community groups, a comprehensive whole school approach plan and professional development programs for staff.
