OVIS Community Services (OVIS) has been appointed by the WA Government as operator of the new Peel Therapeutic Refuge (Peel Refuge) located in the Peel region of WA. Managed by OVIS, the Peel Refuge will provide accommodation and therapeutic services for women, and their children, who are victims of family and domestic violence. A tailored and holistic service will be provided for women with co-occurring health issues including harm resulting from alcohol and other drugs and mental health concerns.

Peel-based trauma counselling specialist, Allambee Counselling has partnered with OVIS and will coordinate and deliver the therapeutic services. Other local health, wellbeing and cultural support services will also be involved in the Peel Refuge as the program is established.

This integrated therapeutic refuge model is the first of its kind in WA.  It is currently under construction and expected to open in December 2020. OVIS and Allambee are working together to establish the new Peel Refuge and look forward to welcoming and supporting women and children from across WA to find safety, security and stability in their lives.

The Peel Refuge forms part of the WA Government’s Stopping Family and Domestic Violence Policy. Read the MEDIA RELEASE here:
