Privacy and Confidentiality

Matters discussed with Allambee Counselling are confidential; however there are some situations in which there is a duty of care to override confidentiality. These include:

  • When a child is at risk of harm
  • When a person is at risk of harming themselves or another person
  • When a court has issued subpoena for a client’s file

In these situations, Allambee may have to inform another appropriate person or authority. Should this be the case, the counsellor will discuss this with the client prior to informing any other persons.

Counsellors are required to record information about their work with clients. This information is kept secure and confidential. Clients have the right to read or obtain information from their records; however the file itself remains property of Allambee Counselling. Allambee will not release any information about a client to anyone outside of the organisation without the client’s written consent unless there is a legal obligation to do so via a court subpoena.

Allambee’s confidentiality and privacy policy is discussed with clients during their first appointment. If you have any concerns or questions please contact Allambee to discuss further on (08) 9535 8263
